Yale has announced this year's annual Yale Day of Service, 2015, where alumni around the world will spend a Saturday (or a planned weekend) volunteering and performing community service.  Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor  '79JD will act as global Honorary Chair.  Day of Service is scheduled for Saturday, May 9, 2015. In 2014, over 4,000 Yale volunteers in 20 countries gave up a Spring Saturday to work on projects from the West Coast to the Far East. Lisa Chapman '81MBA is the global Chair of Day of Service.

At home, YWAA will again coordinate activities for alumni and their friends and families in Westchester and will announce projects and service sites soon.

Last year, YWAA coordinators led four sites in the area. Volunteers spent the day cleaning and sprucing up a community garden in Scarsdale, spent a Friday discussing careers to students at a Mt. Vernon school, made a butterfly garden and cleaned up the entry at the Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, and cleaned and performed administrative functions at an animal shelter in Briarcliff Manor. Volunteers included Westchester and other New York-area alumni, family members, others in the community and a handful of newly admitted students.
