Red, Hot, Blue and Spizz

As classes ended on campus, Yale a cappella groups the Spizzwinks (?) and Red, Hot and Blue slipped into Westchester over a pre-exam weekend to present separate holiday concerts in Rye, Dec. 11-12.

An audience of 150 jammed the Carriage House at the Jay Heritage Center to enjoy singing from the Yale Spizzwinks (?) (above), who were joined by a cappella groups from Columbia (Notes and Keys) and Princeton (the Tigressions).

The concert, Dec. 12, was part of the Center's 270th birthday celebration of Founding Father John Jay.  The Yale group sang Spizz favorites "No Regrets," "Rhythm of Love," and "Blue Skies" and joined all to sing "Happy Birthday" to John Jay. Spizzwink alum Mason Rees '76 jumped on stage for the "Blue Skies" rendition.

At the Osborn Dec. 11, also in Rye, over 100 guests listened to Yale's oldest co-ed group, Red, Hot and Blue (below) after they took the stage to sing favorites. They were joined by Princeton's Roaring 20. YWAA board member Bill Nightingale '53 helped organize the event.

Red, Hot, and Blue heads to Boston in January for concerts after exams and the holidays.  The Spizzwinks (?) will venture southward to Atlanta and Nashville and have planned a tour in China this spring.
