Countdown to Spring Break

BLUE BEAT

In a winter that won't go away and a winter with blizzards, ice, mounds of snow and no end in sight, Old Campus at Yale in mid-February was covered by a thick white blanket that seems to have been in place since mid-December. Yale students admit winter makes for a cold, gray setting (above), but it doesn't suck the life out of campus.

Basement theater goes on. Labs start on time on Science Hill. The baskeball team sits atop the Ivy League. Residential-college eateries provide late-evening nourishment. Bass Library turns into a standing-room-only study hall as midterms loom. Singing groups invade dining halls. Political groups linger in WLH debating all matters under the universe.  Students make midnight snack runs on Broadway.  And quite a few count the days to spring break.
